Amputation Distal to the Carpus.

Amputation Distal to the Carpus.
When a frontlimb that is retained at the carpus cannot be extended for lack of space, the retained distal portion can be removed by placing the wire around the leg and severing it distal to the carpal joint. It is important to leave the knobby carpal joint to subsequently serve as an anchor for the chain.
