True Breech - Amputation of a Leg.
When a fetus is in true breech position and cannot be repelled adequately to reach the hock, the wire can be dropped over the rump of the fetus, with the aid of a wire guide, between the leg and the body. After retrieving the wire from underneath the fetus the fetatome is threaded completely. Next the leg is severed and delivered hip end first, if necessary, with the help of obstetrical tongs. The second leg may then be extended and the remainder of the fetus extracted in toto. (Foal).
